RF power transistors - SSS?

Hi all

I wanted to build a solid state power amp for 50Mhz....anyway that was until I saw the price of the RF Fets/transistors! 8O

What do these contain that makes them so expensive?

I guess I am going to kill myself with HT and a 4cx350 laying in the bottom of my cupboard instead!

Try Russian RF transistors KT9xx, they are quite cheaper, but only if you are in Europe
