How can I begin my LNA design?

时间:04-11 整理:3721RD 点击:
I am a newbie of RFIC design. I have chosen the CMOS LNA topology according to the design specification, which is the cascode amplifier with source degeneration. But how can I begin my design and parameter optimization using Cadence Spectra? Where can I find a detailed step-by-step procedure for LNA design? Please give me some advices. Thanks!

www.rfic.co.uk very good site of LNA Design.

Thanks!

I have read some books and papers about CMOS LNA design theory, but I still can not set about it. So I think what I need most is a simple step-by-step design example.

use the ADS to simulate and then do a PCB and then test it , this is the best way to do the LNA

The project I am doing now is CMOS LNA, which is a little different from the traditional microwave LNA design. For example, I have to decide the size of the mos transistor. So I think it may be better if I can find a detailed design example. however, most textbooks just cover a lot of similar LNA theory.

I think we always have to calculate the size of MOS transistors and thats not new and you may also read some books on CMOS: for example

1. Design of Analog Integrated Circuits by Razavi
2. Book by Philip Allen

guys, if you have read some materials about COMS LNA, such as Thomas Lee's paper, you can start your design following by it. By the way, to kella, i have read www.rfic.co.uk about LNA design, there is a little difference between it and Thomas Lee's suggestion, can you explain it in detail, thanks a lot!
to xuebi, and you can simulate your design step by step according to spectreRF.pdf. it is in cadence help document

A good start is Thomas Lee's book or Razavi's book. Also there are some good IEEE papers by Thomas Lee ( you can find them in the book by Thomas Lee)

I agree, for CMOS, Thomas Lee's book is actually very good, I used it for a CMOS LNA.

&
attached document helps...

I think T. Lee 's the design of CMOS RF circuits (second edition) is a goo reference

Shaeffer correct the Q value to 2.6 for fixed Pd optimization topology in Jun, 2005. During these 8 years, nobody noticed that the Noise factor equation is wrong...

This classical paper may be difficult for beginners to understand.

What's more, I found a lot of knowledge about analog circuit is necessary for RFIC design.

Check this LNA presentation I found from Institute of Microelectronic System.
It has noise theory and LNA topologies.
Hope helps you.

I think Thomas Lee's book on CMOS IC design is very useful, though some mistakes there, but very good for beginners:D

Any paper related to this ?

i think u shoul read book on amplifiers by Vendelin..it will be a good start then u can go for above mentioned books
