What is the theoritical noise figure for sensitivity of -85dBm

Hello,

To answer, we need to know what is the S/N (or Eb/N0) your baseband can tolerate at its input without exceeding a specific BER (defined in the norm)?

Sensitivity = -174dBm/Hz + 10*log(BW) + NF + SNR
where, NF is the receiver chain noise figure, SNR is coresponding to the modulation type and BER specification.

thanks for your answers, but how to decide that what SNR is required? once SNR is known it is easy to calculate NF

e.g. for sensitivity of -70dBm they generally take 23dB SNR so that NF comes to be 21dB
but whats the situation for -85dBm sensitivity

SNR depends on the modulation type and BER required.

can you give me details of muduation scheme and required SNR

please check oppenheimer's book "Signal and system" first

for every digital modulation scheme there is BER curve
this curve relate the SNR to the BER , by knowing the BER u can get the SNR required by the demodulator.
that's it

khouly
