Hello all,
Is there a precise definition of where RF front end section ends and where back end starts?
I need to write to some stuff in a report and don't seem to find this piece of info in literature.
Thanks.

RF frontend means the parts before the mixer stage, that is, antenna and RF amplifier.
The definition varies. Sometimes front-end also includes the downconversion mixer. Might be a good idea to specify in your report.
Today (due to higher integration), the terminology of RF front-end cover almost entire RF side of a transceiver (RX and TX) from antenna to the modulator/demodulator.
Hi,
in modern and complex systems, or even chips (SoC, SoP) RF front end can also stand for analog (RF, MW) part of the system. The other part would then be digital (FPGA, ASIC, CPU etc.)
