Help me start a 1 GHz RF power amplifier design
I want to desing 1GHz power amplifer by using Serenade. Is it possible to design.
I've never been try RF power amp design. How do I start. How to choose the amp class. Which book is the best to study RF pwr amp design.

How to choose the amp class? Look at the efficiency spec you are designing to.
First of all the power class of the amplifier is dependable by the type of the modulation that is transmitting.
AM modulation and some types of digital modulation (BPSK, QPSK, OFDM, QAM, etc) requires linear amplification, and the PA shall be in a linear class (A or AB).
FM modulation and some types of constant envelope digital modulation (FSK, GFSK, GMSK, etc) can use a nonlinear amplification, and the PA can be in class C.

First you should learn some important concept as IP3, 1dB Compression Point, Available Power Gain ,
Power Gain, Transducer Power Gain , SFG, Stability.
"RF Power Amplifiers for Wireless Communications" from Steve Cripps is a must for PA design.
