Implementation of UWB radars

Anybody playing with UWB radar out there? I am looking for ideas for a variable delay line to trigger the sampler, with accurate programmable time delay, and micropower operation. Any ideas?

do you have basic construction to repeat ?

Almost forget, if you need to delay receiver's correlator pulse compared to transceiver's - there is implementation in Linear's technology AN 94 giving adjustable ( potentiometer) delay - 30nanosec to +300 nanosec in opamp slew rate pulse generator (360 picosec rise time). But that could unstable for precision MIR measurements .
