what is smart antenna
and its applications in wimax
A smart antenna knows when to buy you coffee.
This is a recently invented term to describe what has been done in military systems for about 50 years. In the military this is called adaptive antenna or adaptive array. It allows independent pointing of nulls and beams.
The processing is done in the electronics and not in the antenna metal parts.
well,i see,so these antenna always are used to form array?
Yes. The minimum number is two. In this case you can steer two nulls or two beams that are not independent of each other. That is, if one null is at an azimuth of plus theta, the other is at an azimuth of minus theta.
