Wi-spy spectrum analyzer

Has anyone tried out the Wi-spy spectrum analyzer , yesterday i ordered one to do a project on my university's network . I would like your opinion on the product

I bought something similar once, but never bothered to turn it on. They are good for what they are: A narrowband poor dynamic range spectrum analyzer. Probably fine for a student project.

It just uses an RSSI function in the LAN receiver chipset to output power vs frequency. If you are only looking for signal strength of your lan network, or interference from other lan networks, it is probably ok.

If you are looking for out of band signals, interference from other than a lan network, etc, you would probably rather have a real spectrum analyzer, like the BK Precision, Anritsu, Rhode and Schwartz, etc portable ones for a 3-5 thousand S.
