osc port

Hi

I have a problem, I have designed an oscillator:

1) The osc test simulation indicates that the circuit oscillates at 250 GHz.

2) The osc port simulation gives the oscillation frequency to be zero

3) The transcient simulation gives a sin wave with a low frequency.

Why?

the spectrum only shows the DC component in the 0 Hz ,

did u try the harmonic balance simulator with osc probe ?

can u send the schematic , and i will check it

khouly

thanks

send the model file ur using , it gives an error need the file

Here it is, shot

good , what is the frequcny of opertation u design this circuit to work in ?
give me the details , it seems that these are not oscillatioins , in this type u should get high voltage swing , and ur oscillation is very very small

give me some details

khouly

To be honest, I was just trying to learn how to make a circuit oscillate in ADS. For now, this would be good enough. I was just trying to learn the use of the HB box.

If I am not mistaken, an LC rosonator should resonate at some frequency if the energy given to the circuit by the active part compensate for the loss of the resistor.

What seems contradictory is the fact that three different components give three different results. I have no idea why?

don't forget the resistors in the tank circuit and the will change the DC for the MOS , and hence the capacitances of MOS will change as well

about the Oscillator and HB simulation , check the help of ADS it is great , and also check the oscillators tutorials of odysseys www.rfic.co.uk

khouly

thanks for the help, but are the simulation results correct. What causes the contradiction?
