several questions on HFSS!!!!
Right now I am dealing with an array problem. There are a lot of waveguide ports in my case. As I tried, if there is just one port, no problem; 8 ports, no problem; 40 ports, no problem. But if I increased the number to 41, an error occurs and the problem cannot be solved. Thus I wonder in HFSS whether there is a maximum number of ports and if it is 40.
The second question is about the accuracies of different HFSS versions.
If it run for over 10 steps (delta S smaller than 0.05), which is more
accurate in solving the phase of a waveguide structure from your
experience, HFSS 8.5 or HFSS 9.2 ? That is because as I tried the results
are not identical for the same structure.
The last question seems very strange. I once found that in HFSS the
Realized Gain is higher than the Gain and the Gain is higher than the
Directivity. This cannot be explained and I wonder there may be some
mistakes in my setup. Have you met this before? Can you give me some
instructions?
Looking forward to your replies.
Thank you very much.
Once again beg for help!
Hi Dear fishyxl!
If you have a legal version of the software, you may ask your questions from ansoft web site.
Thanks!
It's a pity that my vesion is not legal.
If you have a legal version, can you do me a favor?
Hi fishyxl !
There is a limitation of a maximum 25 modes per port as far as a know.
I think certanly the same limit for number of ports exists because with both limits together the maximum S-matrix dimentions is 1000x1000. Round number :)
The Ansoft support promiced me that in the next HFSS v11 they will increase such limits.
Actually there is no much differences between them, exept the mesh generation.
I would say if you would start with same initial mesh there is no difference in accuracy at all. I remembered that I checked it when v9 just appeared.
