discone antenna
btw, i simulated a traditional discone and would like to ask if the radiation pattern could be held constant so as not to tilt up or down in the ultra-wideband.
Thank you!
Dear DrunkBear
look at this pdf's .

hi plasma,
thank you very much for your information!
actually i spent a whole day yesterday to examine those papers, including the two papers you supplied and "Designing Discone Antennas" by J.J.Nail and some other papers.
i did some simulation using CST, but was disappointed to get rather bad results when parameters suggested by Nail were applied. i also found that if the slant angle of the cone is increased to be larger than 90 degree, a much better impedance matching in the UWB band could be achieved.
As to the radiation pattern, i'm not quite understand that "SPATIO-SPECTRAL COMPENSATION" mentioned in "your" paper, due to my poor knowledge on communication.
So i'm wondering whether discone is a proper choice for my goal because of its shifting pattern with frequency variation in elevation plane and very small directivity. My desire is a constant 30 degree angle of pitch in the whole UWB band. The larger the directivity, the better.
Do you have some further advice?
Many thx!
Hello,
I'm down here by chance. I must make an antenna discone followed by a simulation with CST. Can you help me please.
