microwave oscillator

I need some good ideas to design a microwave oscillator in the 8 - 10 GHz frequency range

Hi zeshan102,

To help you we need a little bit more information. What output power do you need? What frequency stability, phase noise and so on.
To build a 'simple' microwave oscillator in X-Band (about 10GHz) you can use a DR (dielectric resonator) and a transistor. With a BFP-0405 you can reach about 0dBm output power. Look at the infineon homepage, they also have some examples of such a DRO.
You can also use a HEMT FET, but phase noise will be worse than with a bipolar transistor. Your oscillator can be built on FR-4 if you choose a thickness of less than 1mm. Better it would be to use a microwave base material (look at rogers.com). Very important is a good grounding of your active device. Use more than one via very close to your trans/FET.
So what can I say more? - Much fun!

Bye
