Anyone has any reference on this topic? Is it possible to use a network analyzer to do that?

Hi boy

It's possible to do it with a network analyzer but there is
A problem with the element located far from the center you
will get only noisy phase. so to get the best and accurate data you
have to use a good one. and for now I think it's only Agilent PNA
Because it have the best dynamic range. You can do it also with
CST or HFSS .

Pl

Dear plasma, how to do that with PNA network analyzer? I have one of that but i could not find any application note on the agilent site that tell me how to do that. please advice

you have to look in the PNA there is an help up in the menue
and if you quit form the network analyzer window then you get win2000 window there is flash file shortcut for introduction.
you have to calibrate the pna for full two port
use electronic cal kit or mechanical kit. then measure the VSWR "S11"
of the center element when the other are loaded.
then switch to "S21" and measure the insertion loss between the center
element and the others. again the other are loaded.

If the Network Analyzer have not enough dinamic range, you may use CW signal generator and sinthetised spectrum analyzer. phase lock toghether the freq. ref., in this manner a 100dB+ dinamic may be reached.

But... to see the antenna mutual coupling, you must be on anechoic enviroment.
Also what "mutual" exactly means? co-pol?, cross-pol? or what? perhaps isolation?
If you expect to measure extremally low level, a significally amount of the signal may came from a received echo of a signal transmitted by adiacent antenna.

Boy: You can firstly simulate it in CST or HFSS or FDTD! The result may be useful for you !
