Digital laser for analog application

Hi:

My group is currently working on an optical cable TV link. We've been looking really hard for an analog laser, however they are either very expensive or out of stock. We've found several digital DFB lasers within our budget. I was just wondering what are the major differences between a digital laser and an analog laser. I found some literature talking about analog lasers being more linear. If so, can we just design a lineaization circuit for the digital laser? Can anyone please tell me whether a digial laser can be used for our project or would it be too difficult? Thank you

Would it be possible to use this: http://www.excelight.com/pdf/odl/sdt8008c.pdf ?

Unfortunatelly you can not use this module for fibre optic CATTV. You need a linear device.
A Fibre optic CATV transmitter basically converts an RF input signal to an Amplitude Modulated optical signal.
This implies that as the instantaneous value of the RF signal increases the laser diode inside the Fibre optic transmitter glows brighter and emits a larger output.

Device from the data sheet that you selected is a digital device ie. takes digital data as 0-1 string and most likely uses FM as the way of modulation

Does anyone know any vendor carries low price analog DFB laser?
