Theory for mixer conversion gain
I need some help on calculating the theorectical conversion gain for an up-converter. Anyone can direct me to the correct books/papers/www ? I searched on the net but can't find anything useful.
Many Thanks!
Hi
The theoretical gain of a mixer is the same either for up or down conversion.
Parameters of interest: gm, Zload, switching effeciency
all the best
Hi DonJ.
Thanks! I'm working on a FET mixer (a self-oscillating mixer actually) with RF input at the gate. I have a estimate of the FET intrinsic parameters and the mixer load/source impedances. Any idea what formulas I should use and where I can find them?
I've done ADS simulation but I also need the theorectical conversion gain.
Thanks!
Hi All,
I'm still looking for info on FET mixer conversion gain......
Thanks!
Hi All,
any follow ups on conversion gain theory for FET mixers?
I refer you to the attached paper.... This is the case for down-conversion. I tried solving the matrices involved for up-conversion case and it was horrible. No simplification is possible. Will be good if someone can tell me how else i can go about deriving the gain.
I cannot use ADS because I'm designing a self-oscillating mixer and the HB simulator can only solve for Either Oscillator Or Mixer.....
Please help! Thanks!
I think that you can find that formula at any RF books, like Thomas Lee's book or Razavi's RF book.
Good Luck!
