the better way to learn RF?
B: work in a small company,but read papers of MTT and other journals.
I am in situation B.
can I learn as much as A?
Working in a small company is impossible to read too much. On the contrary, small company is more demanding, the duty is heavier than in big company.
Assuming in the small company you actually get to design stuff, and there are at least one or two engineers with RF design and manufacturing experience who can review your designs, you will do MUCH BETTER at the small company.
At the big company you run the risk of getting stuck on some minor project, and spending all your time making view graphs. At the small company, what you do IS the company. Also, you will work on a much wider range of stuff.
In any big company ,the working layout is very strict and predecided and you could not actually learn.
All you could do is Implement and follow the course of action already set for you.
In small companies ,you have the space to experiment and make some minor mistakes. So you could learn more.
working in various companies (large and small) would give you more learning experiences than stuck inside one company (large or small), but of coz, ended up bad looking resume.
I would go one better than that. Work in a small company to become a real and varied design engineer. Get as much exposure to sales and manufacturing as you can. In the meantime, go to school nights to get your MBA business degree. Then come in at the Vice President level in the big company and rule the world.
The real key is to work in a company where you work closely with experienced engineers. One or two close mentors are very valuable.

an so on..
RF learning never ends.
Small company will have more chance to practice, enjoy your job.
