UWB antenna
I am looking for some UWB antenna designs. I am interested in printed structures.
Anyone know the requirements like phase behaviour for an UWB antenna?
tony
your antenna will be used to multiband-OFDM scheme or pulse radio scheme?
Best Regards,
asdfaaa,
The antenna will be used for multiband-OFDM scheme,

I have seen papers describe U slot anttena ,you can also look for double-E slot antenna, and also another kind, which use an L shape probe with and triangualr shape antenna. These are UWB antennas.
as rightly said by other users,
slot antenna is being considered as an ideal candidate for UWB
there is small topic related to slot antenna http://www.mwrf.com/Articles/ArticleID/10587/10587.html
may it help u
Dear userdce :
the link which you gived is very useful to me ?
and can i download the article :
R. Bhalla and L. Shafai, "Resonance behavior of single U-Slot microstrip patch antenna," Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, Vol. 32, No. 5, March 5, 2002.
which is a reference about current analyse

Dear userdce :
the question mark is typed wrongly.
it should be :the link which you gived is very useful to me !

Hello,
You can find lot of UWB antenna related documents here...
http://bwrc.eecs.berkeley.edu/Resear...esent_1_02.pdf
and the attached one ....
Dear Manjunatha_hv
Thank you very much for your references .
is the attached one the same with the one pointed by the link ?
dear uk
i have downloaded them , and they are not the same :)
Sorry guys, in your opinion.. for the UWB antennas which is the leader requirement? I mean . Gain ? Matching? Polarization purity? ...?Which is the most important one that can influence the entire design?
Regards
Lupin
i think for any antenna design
following r the steps of designing and they also show their respective importance
> matching(return loss)
> bandwidth
> gain
>polarization purity
but it is for general antenna design
while the criterias may change despending upon what is ur utmost important demand
In any case, the antenna design needs following considerations:
1) Return loss
2) Bandwidth
3) Gain
4) Polarisation
We can also consider
5) Size
6) Material(that will describe the cost etc)
Basically whatever antenna you are designing the considerations can keep on going, depending upon your requirements, BUT you simple cant ignore one thing for the sake of other, in most of the cases..
UWB antennas are a different breed of beast. You do not really think of them in normal terms.
I would say that the most important feature is to match the tx antenna to the type of waveshape you are transmitting. The same for the RX. TX and RX antennas are NOT reciprocal. You want to know if the antenna will differentiate or integrate the pulse. That is the first and only imporant step, since if you pick the wrong antenna type the whole system will simply fail to work.
After that, I would start to worry about secondary issues.
