Increase Coupler Dircetivity by Software?

Hi all
I built a broadband microwave amplifier (4-26GHz) which must be able to measure the amplitude and phase of the reflected power (as a simple VNA). I used a commercial available directional coupler from Narda (4227-16) for coupling the reflected power. The coupled signal feeds a sampler (step recovery diode) and the resulting IF signal is digitized by A/D converters. The system works fine, but the directivity of the Couplers is only about 15db (datasheet).
Do I have any chance to improve the quality of the measured signal by software? How can I 'increase' the directivity of the coupler by software?
