How can I correct measurement done in vertical polarization?

Hi all!

How can I correct (calibrate) a measurement done in vertical polarization while
the transmitter used a horizontal polarization?

In other words, I performed a measurement test with a vertical polarized antenna while the transmitter was in horizontal polarization.
How can I obtain and justify a correction factor between the two polarizations?
Freq. is 600 MHz and the distance from tx can be 70 km (broadcasting TV).

Thanks in advance for any help,
Ciao

hello,

I am afraid you are in trouble because horizontal and vertical polarizations are orthogonal (or independent) so "in theory" it is not possible to relate one measurement to the other by a factor.

On the other hand, you mention that the mesurement was made at 70km (?!) and it is a low frequency antenna (600MHz) which is affected by ground reflections and so and so. There are some formulas (I think called Fresnel formulas) to take into account ground reflections, but I dont beleive they permit to relate H to V polarizations.

Ok,
I don't think it is a matter of Fresnel clearance because the tx is on a hill top while the receive area is a wide flat area.

Tests were performed in urban and rural areas.
