Transmitting a 32 bit code about 300Metres

I would like to make a device that can transmit an 4 Byte (32 Bit) code to a central receiver, a distance of about 300 metres.

The purpose of this is to position sensors areound a small farm. The sensors are just ON or OFF. When they are OFF, nothing is transmitted at all - the circuit is closed. When they are on i.e., when a gate is opened - the sensor must transmit the 64 bit code to a central unit.

It would probably be better to transmit the say a 31 bit code, and then use the last bit for the ON/OFF state.

I would like to be able to use up to 1000 sensors - as they all have a unique 32 bit code, and it is unlikely that they'll all be triggered at once.

What are your suggestons on:
1. Carrier frequency.
2. Power required for each transmitter
3. The chip to use for each transmitter.
4. Lowest cost.
5. Receiver system (RX side). - What chip to use.
