Input Power for Tx for Radiation Pattern Measurement Purpose
Just got query on the power to be transmitted through transmitting antenna (in dBm) from signal/microwave generator... +10dBm is large enough?
I'm using horn antenna as Tx (ranging from 1-10GHz). Any idea?
Thanks! ;)
Important is also the distance between the two antennas (TX antenna and measured antenna).
Assuming a maximum of 10m between antennas, 10dBm should be enough to measure the antenna pattern. The idea is to don?t have deeps in antenna pattern higher than TX power + Horn gain - Path Loss, which makes the signal do drop below noise floor of the Spectrum Analyzer that you are using for measurement.
Thanks..how about the modulation from signal/microwave generator? am or fm?
Thanks all!
CW would be the best, but FM is ok also from the moment that you don?t have amplitude variations of the signal.
Thanks vfone,
It seems ok with the transmitting part, now the problem is with turntable setup for receiving antenna..
Any idea?
