Mixer Questions
when upconversion, can the signal input from the IF(RF) port and output from the RF(IF) port ?the same as downconversion .
i am puzzled ,thank you!
Yes you can. This mixer is bidirectional.
You do what ever you want. You can put the IF into the LO port if you wanted to. The important thing to remember is the frequeny response of the ports.
As an upconverter, if your low frequency input is 1MHz, you don't want to apply this to a port which has a frequency response of 200MHz-800MHz.
Or retreiving the higher frequency output of 1000MHz wouldn't work well if the frequency response of the port is DC-800MHz.
I wouldn't get to caught-up in the LO,RF,IF nomenclature of mixer ports. Just do what makes sense and works best.

Hi, If your mixer is a pasive mixer you can, active mixer are not always able to be used bidirectional. Normally it is also refered to in the datasheet if they only can be used for up or downconversion.
Paul.
