em simulation in ads momentum
rules to design my on-chip inductor. I am used to design inductor by Asitic before.
Now, I want to learn one EM simulator to hlep my design and improve my knowledge of EM simulation.
I survey several simulators such as HFSS, Sonet, IE3D, ADS momentum...etc.
But I have no idea which one is good to me. I want the tool easy to learn and
built-in package of on-chip inductor design. Hopefuly, there're not too many
numerical parameters to set.
Please recommend! Thank you!
ADS momentum is quite easy to use, but not quite accurate.
HFSS is 3D simulator. It gives pretty accurate prediction, but it is harder than momentum to learn.
i never heard that momentum is not accurate
about the easy to use EM simulator u have momentum , and IE3D
khouly
Agilent ADS-momentum is easy to use, & very accurate & powerful EM simulator.
ANSOFT hfss and ie3d are very good
but you should find a good tutorial book to learn these simulator
the first EM simulator that i have learned and i find it easy is Ansoftyou can find documentation in Internet and you caan download it by Emule
good luck
Hi,
I would like to suggest to use Sonnet, it is very accurate, user friendly and you can dowload Sonnet light for free to get the feeling for the tool and analyse simple structures.

hi, if you are just going to design RF components, then SONNET is good. Its learning curve is not that steep. It has lesser parameters to set compared to HFSS. There is a student version of SONNET where you can get for free with some registration. So you can try it out. There are also alot of tutorials provided by SONNET.
Good Luck
