Help needed in simulation of loop antenna in HFSS....
I am trying to simulate loop antenna in HFSS . Specs. are as:
Major radius = 120mm
Minor radius = 0.3 mm
frequency = 30MHz
According to these specs. radiation pattern should have null along Z-axis if my loop is in XY- plane ...
Problem is I am always getting null along y or x axis . I have tried both lumped port & wave port and have excited with many different methods.I am still thinking I have problem with excitation but I am unable to understand ...
Can any one help me ? PLZ ....it is urgent...

If the loop is in XY- plane ,you are sure get null along y and x axis.A loop in XY- plane is equal to a two-parallel-dipole array in XY- plane .If you want nuul along Z-axis ,the loop must be in xz or yz plane.
Since your loop antenna operation frequency is very low, I think you should make you air box in HFSS quite large (maybe 10 meters) in order to get a good radiation pattern. However, I think in this case, MoM should be better than FEM, and you can try IE3D or Sonnet.
The other problem affect your results is your antenna dimension compared with the operation wavelength is quite small, so its efficiency and gain should be very low. Improper definition of feeding should affect the radiation pattern since the leakage radiation of the feeding line.
