how can I know which is the current state of the art of RF blocks like LNAs, mixers and VCOs ? some plots or tables that I could consult for example.

consult the IEEE journal on ISSC or find the application note of some big names, like TI, Maxim, etc

test these function blocks from its input and output terminal. also we can ask technicians from its corporation.
