Dual data transmission to a remote location

I need to transmit 8-bit data to a remote location what i have a digital 8-bit input i want to recive digital 8 bit out what i have to do inbetween are there any ADC DAC, trancievers etc
This transmission should be dual way
pleas help me out there

The description i too generic... what does mean remote, is it wired or wireless communication?
