need help on PA design
i am designing the 3 stage Class AB Power amplifier for my bluetooth applicatioin.
i have to deliver the 13 dBm po means i have to deliver the around Ipp=80mApp (peak to peak current to 50 ohm load ( anteena )
my question is for ideally for class A amp the bias current in output stage should be Ibias = Ipp/2 = 40 ma
for class AB how much bias current i put in my out put stage so that i can deliver that much power to anteena..
as book suggests that for Class AB Ibias < Ipp/2. ( for output stage only)
but my point is this much current is that when 100% effeciency assumed.
so plz tell me how much bias current i take in output stage of Class AB to deliver the 80mA peak to peak current to antenna ..
regards
manissri
The last stage and its driver should be in Class AB to improve overall efficiency, but the first stage shall be in Class A to prevent auto-bias with input power.
plz tell me the bias current needed to last stage of Pa which is dilevering the power to antenna

hi vfone ..
could you please elaborate the auto biaswith input power which prevented by using class A amp..in power amp.
how the auto bias with input power is prevented by using the class A amp
In Class A the conduction angle of the transistor is 360° meaning that the transistor conducts for the full cycle of the input signal. Thus the input signal level could be kept small enough to avoid driving the transistor into cutoff region.
