How to start designing a broadband equalizer?

I am entrusted with the task of designing a broadband equalizer? Now where do i start? Any books available?Would be grateful for any help.

for my opinion you need a simle circuit simulator and a little bit of imagination.

I.e. if You put a feedback resistor between the OUT and IN of a MMIC Ampli like MiniCircuits ERA series, You'll see a gain slowly raising vs freq.

also if into a PCB , You put a Π attenuator, a capacitor // to series resistor and small inductance series to the shunt resistor, You'll get a good equalizer to compensate the attenuation of coax. cables.
