Finger touching a LCD

Hi
I have an Nokia LCD in my car. It is used to show different engine parameters. When I push a button, the LCD shows the outside temperature.
I want to eliminate that button, and the switching between the parameters shown to be made when I touch the LCD.
I think i have to mount a sensor or something behind the LCD, and when my finger is very close to it, the switch is activated.
How can I do this?
In the circuit there is a microcontroller, if it helps.
And once again, everything is mounted in a car, where there are many noises
Thank You
