UWB-Antennas Simulation
I have started with my research in uwb-antennas. The only research tools that i can use, are "HFSS and Matlab". With HFSS I can simulate only in frequency Domain but i need to study the output signal and other parameters in time domaine.
Is Matlab helpful for uwb-antennas simulation specially in time domaine?
I will be glad for any tipps.
Thanks
Sara
Hi,
I am glad to work with about UWB antennas by FDTD Method.
So if you need help you can contact me on my email: o.mrabet@gmail.com
FDTD is the best method in calculating UWB antenna .
Well, if you have the transfer function of the antenna (S21 mag and phase to a receiving antenna), you can just do a fourier transform of that to see the time response. Of course, the bigger the simulation bandwidth, the more accurate the result will be.
In other words, if you know the transfer function H(F) of the antenna, you can compute the impulse response h(t), and then you can input all sorts of waveforms to the h(t)--such as a unit step, ramp, gated sine wave, etc.
Dank you very much for your informations and helps.
About FDTD: ist it a simulation tools like HFSS? is it possible anywhere in internet to download it?
I will be thankful for any information.
to see in time domain you can use CST Design Studio 2006
hi akedar,
thanks, the only simulation tools that i have is HFSS. I know about CST, but it is expencive.
I will be glad to get any information about FDTD:
Should I write for FDTD method program codes?
If yes: in which program language? C++, C, Java, Mathlab?
How can I start to learn this method?
Ist it possible to download it anywhere in internet?
Is there any helpful and good book about FDTD special about antennas simulation?
For any helpful information I will be thankful.
hi,
you may want to check about MICROSTRIPES, 3D EM SOlution.
it uses the Transmission Line Matrix (TLM) method to solve Maxwell?s equations in the time domain. The TLM method is well documented as the most efficient numerical method currently available.
here is a paper

stable, accurante and fast...
good luck

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply and help. I will be study about the TLM method.
thanks again
