Antenna placement in relation to Zigbee module

I am Using a Zigbee module for wireless communication, If i am using a longer antenna for better range, and it is not mounted on PCB what are the mounting considerations i have to keep in mind , So that the module works fine

If the distance of the antenna mounted externally is about 5mm from GND plane of PCB, whether its oK or needs some thinking
