Does DSB or SSB mixer generate LO frequency harmonics internally
If you have a nonlinear device in the mixer you will get spurs. The SSB one will have lower levels on some of them.
Your best bet is to make a spread sheet program to calculate them caused by the first ten harmonics of all inputs and select a frequency plan that minimizes the ones you cannot filter out.
they are called m*n spurs and they are usually all there as in:
+/- m*LO +/- n*RF
the lower order ones are usually the worst (where m*n=a low number)
its very important to calculate where they are since they can land on your desired signal
It always generate intermodulation product m*LO+n*RF due to nonlinearity of a mxier.
It is just a matter of how strong these products are. If they fall inband with your desired signal, it has to be make sure they are well below your desired signal.
