how to calculate Lat Lon Distance

i m currently doing my project. i want to calculate the distace by known values of latitude and longitude. also want to find the value of azimuth from the same formula.can any body provides me some use full links.
i want to impliment it in matlab.

Here's some old code written in Modula-2 that calculates course using lat,long, and elevation. It is used for wind calculations from a GPS mounted on a balloon. Hope this helps...
