This question appeared in our Ph.D qualifying exam last year. I don't know how to solve it. Anybody could help me solve it as detail as possible? Thank you very much! Welcome to contact me by email to: haijiang.ma@yahoo.com

The question is described as follows:
"Design and describe the operating characteristics of a doubly resonant cylindrical microwave cavity to allow a search for RF energy conservation in nonlinear materials. Materials with a diode-like nonlinearity could demodulate a modulated RF carrier wave and generate low frequency signals when irradiated. The cavity is to be designed to resonate in the TE111 mode at about 890MHz and in the TE113 mode at 1780MHz. Also, it is important to perform a sensitivity analysis to ascertain the design's capability in detecting any nonlinearity."
