A question about simulation setup in IE3D software

时间:04-09 整理:3721RD 点击:
Hi all friend

Could anybody tell me please that how can I determine meshing frequency and cells/wavelenghth in the simulation setup window ? [IE3D v.12]

For example in the 1800 Mhz for best accuracy how can I determine it ?

Regards

Hi, rf-en:

For antennas, you can use a value slightly higher than the resonant frequency. For example, if you are designing a patch antenna at 1.8 GHz, you can use Meshing Frequency (Fmax) = 2 GHz and the Cells per Wavelength (Ncells) = 15 to 20. The most important parameter is the Automatic Edge Cells (AEC). You normally can get very accurate results with Fmax = 120% of the resonant frequency and Ncells = 15 to 20 as long as enable AEC.

For electrically small structures, you may want to increase either the Fmax or the Ncells. For example, for RFIC (spirals and MIM capacitors), you may need to increase those values significantly. The working frequency of RFIC may be smaller than 5 GHz while you may define Fmax = 100 to 200 wieh Ncells = 20 (or Fmax = 10 GHz with Ncells = 200). If you use Fmax = 10 and Nclels = 20, you may still get resonable s-parameters while the solved R, L, C and Q may be off much. Those values are of the most interests to RFIC designers.
