passive mixer linearity

set the LO to drive the transistor source( RF signal is feed to the gate) is better than using LO to drive the gate (feed the RF signal to its source) form linearity point of view.

Is statement correct? and why?

I don't think this statement is true. This way the transistors will not be fully switched and the linearity will be worse

i think it is better to drive gate by the LO , this way the MOS will be switched in a good way "time varying linear element"

I just found the source of this statement(maybe)

in the Thomas Lee's book design of CMOS RF IC
the potentiometric mixer use LO to drive its source

in this case the transistors work in linear region all the time( no turned off)

but this kind of linearity suffers in submicron and I think how to drive the source of the transistor is a problem
