butterfly epc rfid tag

Hello to all!

Can someone tell me what is the protocol of the given RFID tag (label) as shown in attached picture? (e.g. EPCglobal Class 1 Gen 2)

I know that its from Tyco and M/A-Com.
Does the same antenna (tag/label) might be manufactured by other vendor along with their chip?

Last, if I have some tags (as shown), is there a way for me to know what is the type of the class and the protocol this tag uses?

Thanks, in advanced

IH

Looking at a Tag we cannot say which protocol is there in the chip. . To know the type of protocol used we need datasheet.
Also different manufacturers can use same tag chip for different Tags (antennas).

Also most UHF tags now support EPC Global Gen 2. Some Leading manufactures that I came across are given below.

Hitachi, Philips, Ti etc too manufacture tags as part of their products

Hi to all and to GV!

About the reader, if I'll be needing to order a reader for UHF tags antenna,

1) In which span of frequencies the reader "seeks" the tag antenna?
(I know that the UHF band, for RFID application, covers the 860MHz to 960MHz, but it split into narrow BW depends on the regulation of the local RFID deployment)
* Is there a way to find a reader which cover the whole span of the UHF tags, or may be the most of it?

2) What is the cost for a very good reader which support all or at least most of the tags protocols which exits in this industry?

THanks,

IH

Almost all UF pasif Rfid readers cover that spectrum. cos they are bulding devices for all the countries. try for big manufacturers. (Alien, sirit, intermec, etc.) Prices depends on power of reader. For ex: Alien ALR 8800 (for europe 2 W) 1600 S (without taxes) if you r designer try to search for oem moduls such as Mercury 5(1 W)

Also even antennas of the tag are designed for 680-960 Mhz. range. Cos they dont want to change their production line. there ll be small db losses depending on frequency. And all datasheets are available for tags. But for readers, you need developer kits. i m building my own readers. But it also costs too. Not cheap technology for now.
