amplification DC...7GHz

Hello,

if we think of an upconversion stage, which brings a 400 MHz signal (MHz region) up to 7GHz and below (MHz....7GHz).
What about amplifying such a signal. The parasitic third harmonic of the amp cannot be filtered out --> too many filters required.
Can anybody help to solve the problem ?

A few years ago I investigated similar case for 1400 MHz wide signal and about 8 GHz carrier. The biggest problem was not filtering out harmonics, it was doable. Much harder is spurs problem. There were so much products in band and no way to get rid out of them. Please do spur analysis first and then check harmonic attenuation.

What type of modulation was it ?
8GHz +- 700MHz

i think to over come the spurs u need a highy linear mixer , may be a resisitive FET mixer

It was done for UWB, which can use different types of modulation. The common term is spread spectrum communications. By the way, even ideal mixer will not help you. Products are products even with ideal mixer. Spur table do not count mixer quality. It just shows you the products that fall into your band of interest. Their amplitude will depends on mixer quality but it will not help you much.
