lightning detector circuit

I need a electronic circuit to detect lightning when it strikes. I need to know whether lightning stroked or not (I do not want to know the direction and distance). I planned to use for internal purposes. Therefore Antenna cannot be grounded. I heard that, hytrodyne AM receiver can be should for this purpose. I need more information about lightning detection.

Have alighting arrestor. Place a series low value high wattage resistor and LED across the resistor. When the lighting strikes then LED will glow.

Do you just want a toy, or a serious detector. They make high quality ones for aircraft:

They use a DSP to analyze the pulse characteristics received, and can differentiate lightning strikes from other types of atmospheric noise. Lightning has a specific recognizable rise/fall/duration time.

I'm doing this one for my graduation requirement.
