help to start with microstructured fibers

i am new here and i am glad to be with you

i will start my PhD thesis in optics, my thesis is about microstructured fiber (also called photonic crystal fiber PCF).

i want to know what's the best software is used to study such fibers (dispersion, nonlinearity, mode propagation...........etc).
