Right steps match RF AMP?
Can any one advise on what right steps are to match a RF amplifier ? This question bothered me long time I haven't had a clear clue.
Normal waht I did was removing all matching components and starting adding parts at amp input to see how it moves on smithchart then tuning input match to desired. Next, terminate input and match output. sometimes this procedure works, sometime not. The issue I found is that at some amps their input matching change would impact output matching a lot, or vice-versa. I'm working on a 600MHz project using sirenza SXB-4089 and having trouble to tune a good input and output return loss.
Any comment would be great appreciated.
This is a very wide topic there is no 1 answer to the question you just asked!
The answer will change if it's a LNA, or a PA, Limiting amp, or a linear gain stage...
First find out what type of amp you have in mind, then search this site and google it.
After you get the basics down and run in to trouble they ask here.
I think u have to match the chain block by block
if ur problem only to design this amplifier
then u have only one block which is the amplifier and the source on one side and the load on the other side.. if they are given as is in ur problem then u have to make a matching network at the input and the output stages of the amplifiers... and yes the input impedance shall depend on the load.
This is a class A 0.5W amplifier used as a PA driver in my design.
I did Googled but no lucky finding answers I want. Can you give some links regarding this topic in the forum. Thanks.

I don't think I understand your suggestion very well.
Yes, the problem is one stage Amp only.
"...if they are given as is in ur problem then u have to make a matching network at the input and the output stages of the amplifiers..." can you elaborate the process step by step?
one can design conjugate matching networks for both input and output networks. But for this one chd have s parameters of the device say FET.My question is If you have a FET model in ADS, is there any way to find the s-parameters of the device.Let me know if you can extract s parameters of device.
