Problem in conversion from layout to schematic in ADS

Hi,

I define a structure in layout and then import it in the schematic by using the following options in the layout window –
Schematic --> Generate/Update Schematic… --> Apply --> OK

When I simulate this structure in the schematic, it shows the following errors –
“Cann’t find substrate ‘MSUB111’”
‘LT111’ : Expected a substrate model for parameter ‘Subst’

I define the new substrate in the layout by –
Momentum --> Substrate --> Create/Modify
Then save this structure with .slm extension (in our case MSUB111.slm)
LT111 is the name of microstrip line.

According to my expectation, the converted schematic should take the newly saved substrate (complete structure) of the layout and shouldn’t show the above mentioned errors.

You could define MSUB in schematic window using component palette (TLines-Microstrip). This should solve the problem I think.

Initially I was trying to define my structure in the schematic itself, but couldn't define it in MSUB.

I am working for the following structure --- (From top to bottom)
---------------------
Free space
Microstrip line
SiO2
Silicon substrate
Ground plane
-----------------------

In MSUB, I couldn't find the option for the SiO2 layer. How to define the thickness and permittivity for this layer ?

If ur doing in Layout window ....Go to momentum--->substrate----->create/modify

U can define thickness of the conductor /dielectric ....


Else in schematic u can select Multilayer substrate..

Hi,

Using the layout component, I completed the schematic design. This layout component has three terminals (Ref is one of them).
Should we connect this Ref terminal also ?

I am not sure whether I connected the terminals of this component correctly !

I have attached the snap shot of the schematic with this query, please go through it, and mention the error.

I plotted Z(1,1) vs freq. and S(1,1) vs freq.

Actually I am not getting the correct plots, so am worry.
