Working in 4W (36dBm Power out in RF) at 200 to 250MHz

Dear All,

I am working on an unit which outputs - 36dBm or 4W RF power to Antenna?
The frequency is 200Mhz to 250MHz?

Is it good to work (i mean exposure to this), will i have some health problem when i am exposed to continusly 8 hours.

What remedy i have to take care. please give your suggestions?

regards
ragh

Don't worry, 4w is so low power for PA! I remend you a transistor BLF571 to design.

Dear ChaoFan,

I am not designing the system. its already designed.

I need to work in this environment.

Will this cause problem to us, because of this power level etc
I mean radiation problem.

ragh

I believe 4W is not a big problem. If I remember correctly, most cell phones have up to 30~33 dBm conducted power.

But of course, if your antenna is directional, don't point the main beam to yourself....

Hi Ragh,
you havent stated the gain of the antenna and this will have a direct bearing on your safty margins.
if for example your antenna has 10dB gain then you have to consider the
now 40W of ERP.
You would not want to be within ~ 20degrees of the front of the antenna
at close range ie less than say ~ 20metres or less

cheers

I know few RF engineers who survived to this ERP power.

One suggestion is to move to "Power Supply department".

For a sensible answer, maybe read something like this:
