ETSI EN 300 220 V2.3.1 adjacent channel power

I'm confused with the measurement of adjacent channel power. For the adjacent channel power measurement, the figure 6 was connect a signal generator, but there is no descript in the test procedure. Which purpose of the SG is? Could anyone explain the test measurement for me? I’m really don’t know how to do?

These tests have been provided both for simple amplifiers or subsystems and for complete transmitters.
If the modulated signal is generated inside you DUT, you shouldn't add an external signal generator. If you test an amplifier, you should add it.

The procedure is explained in the ETSI, what exactly you don't know?
