[MOVED]RF transreciver Range and detectiio
I am working on project.
I want to used RF transceiver for long time signal transmission.
I want it to transmit more than 1 km.
I found lots of Rf transceiver of TI , Microchip ,and other manufacture.
They are use ISM bands different Frequency(900mhz, 433 MHz etc)
Please give me some guidance about this.
Thank you,
Regards,
Heena Kalgude.
didnt specify the frequency you need.
for transmitting over a range of 1Km you need to use a PA which should be pumping >43dBm .
no RF tranceiver can give that huge power ouput. so use also a PA.
check in analog devices, maxim, RFMD etc
You must determine the antenna is omni-directional or sector or dish.
Say in microwave point-to-point with high gain antenna, the PA power can be +10dBm. So you should do your link budget.
the rule of thumb here is that the lower the frequency, normally the longer the range you can obtain.
you need to go through a sensitivity/link budget analysis as well to determine which is the minimum input power you need at the receiver.
If you need external PAs, commercially you ll find some solutions from RFMD/Avago delivering 30 dbm approximately.
Alternatively you can also think about improving the link with one external LNA; chipsets having integrated LNA s sometimes do not have the best NF.
Cheers
