New VCO Desing in SMD Technology

Hi,

i have to redesing an old SMD VCO like image.

My question is now if there another possibility/technologie to desnigs vcos?

Thank a lot!

All components are available and it's not difficult to implement it..
What's your trouble with it ? You wanna get more performance, cheaper, smaller, easier?

First is only interest for different technology

But I had also some difficults on this desing. The Gain isnt very stable over Frequency and Temperatur(2-5dB), I got side resonance in my BW on this desing and i have to match every VCO by hand.

Thanks

I don't understand your question...
This is SMT VCO and what type of technology you would like to change it with ? You want to design another type of-for instance semi-lumped,distributed,DR ?
How did you measure the gain ? This is a VCO and only Closed Loop is "predicted or simulated".
Your goal is not clear at all...

I am sorry for my unclear expression.

Maybe there is another sami-lumed technology that I can try!

I Closed the loop with am LMX PLL Chip! I want to bulid up a Downconverter with a Synth LO-Frequency an I need a LO in the S-Band.

If you intend to design a Narrowband VCO in S-Band, Colpitts ( emitter grounded or base grounded ) VCOs are pretty good.If you would like to implement Wideband VCO, Clapp VCO is better. If you want to design a fixed oscillator Coaxial resonators will give you much better Phase Noise.
So ti's very depended on your application that you intend.

For Coaxial Resonators see http://www.trans-techinc.com/index.asp

For other type of VCOs, read Ulrich Rohde's book and Grebennikov's book

《The Design of Modern Microwave Oscillators for Wireless Applications 》is a good book!
