Job Description
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) is an integral part of the
China Sales force, reporting to the Shanghai FAE manager.
The FAE works closely with one or more Regional Sales Managers by
providing technical pre-sales support to develop and win new
licensing at his/her assigned product line. Acting as a technical
account manager, the FAE is also responsible for managing (Not
performing) the post-sales support to his/her customers as directed
by FAE Manager.
It is important that the FAE develops sound professional
relationships with the key engineers, architects, and decision-makers
at his customers both internally and externally. It is also
important that the FAE can create, report, and execute on key account
strategies aimed at growing the business within these customers.
The FAE will also participate in defining new products or services
with Product groups including CPU Group, Physical IP Group,
Multimedia Processor Group System, System and Software Group and
other Groups. The FAE is expected to maintain a high standard of
technical knowledge in relation to our products, services, and
competitors.
Key Responsibilities
• Scope prospected and qualified IP opportunities develop strategies
and processes to identify and leverage IP licensing and design wins
opportunities of ARM IP products at assigned accounts.
• Present and demonstrate technical details of ARM products to the
assigned accounts. These include:
o ARM Processors
o ARM Physical IP products
o ARM Graphics, Video and Display products
o ARM System IPs and Debug system
• Remove technical obstacles and provide a path to increase IP
licensing and design wins opportunities.
• Performance a technical management of the assigned accounts.
Provide technical support in pre-sales opportunities as well as
ownership of accounts support process in design-in.
• Provide system design expertise and first pass architectural
planning for products in early design stages.
• Create and maintain good relationship with key accounts technical
staff.
• Feedback customer requirements and competition updates to product
groups and other ARM members.
Job Requirements
Critical Success Factors
• Full understanding of customer business and technical development
plans.
• Sound personal relationships with key technical decision-makers at
customers and a good understanding of commercial relationships.
• Working Knowledge of ARM Products, its implementation and
application such as ARM ISA( Instruction Set Architecture), ARM
Physical IP, implementation and EDA design methodology, AMBA,
interconnect, memory and debug infrastructures, Graphics as well as
common functional verification methodologies.
• Critical thinking of product positioning against competition and
ability of present a strong case in front of customers
• High level knowledge of Semiconductor and software development
process.
• Development of strong relationships with assigned Sales Managers,
as well as Marketing and Engineering teams.
Technical Skills
• Six years Plus experience in SoC Design engineering.
• BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer
Science. Master Degree is a plus.
• Understanding of SoC architecture. Mobile, Tablet, DTV, Networking
and Server knowledge is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Physical design, Backend implementation and
EDA tools, such as Synthesis, Formal Verification, STA, Memory BIST
and Clock Tree Synthesis.
• Working knowledge of Verilong/VHDL, Verification IP, ARM Assembly,
C/C++.
• Video/Audio or Graphic knowledge is a plus.
Commercial Skills
• Dynamic, self-starting individual with the ability to excite and
instill confidence in customers about latest and previous technology
and standards.
• Good presentation skills, able to clearly express technical
concepts.
• Previous experience to work with sales or marketing role is a plus.
• FAE or customer interaction experience is a plus.
Personal Skills
• Strong desire to grow sales and win business.
• Positive, “can do” attitude.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and prompt.
• Flexible, willing to adapt to changing responsibilities and
assignments.
