About the authors

Alan Gatherer is Chief Technical Officer for the Communications Infrastructure division of Texas Instruments. Alan is responsible for all strategic development of TI's digital baseband modems for 3G wireless infrastructure. He joined TI in 1993 and has worked on various digital modem technologies including cable modem, ADSL and 3G handset and basestation modems. Alan has authored seven journal papers and 22 conference papers and regularly speaks at communication equipment conferences.

Sandeep Kumar is Strategic Marketing Manager for the Communications Infrastructure of Texas Instruments. During his ten-year tenure at TI, Kumar has been involved in marketing TI DSP and ASIC products for the Internet Infrastructure and Wireless Infrastructure markets. His current role as Strategic Marketing Manager includes assisting with product definition, helping with strategic direction and managing strategic alliances for the Communications Infrastructure business within TI.
