There's no specific "wisdom" about Labview automation for RF measurements. Any good knowledge of Labview is helpful...

Most instruments used in RF measurements are supported by labview in the form of ready to use instrument drivers. This means you dont have to be an expert in GPIB language to create and capture/process the plots from the instrument.

If you use and HP or a newer Agilent instrument, then you can alternatively use Agilent's VEE software which has quite the same philosophy as labview and is considered easier for their own instruments.
