Beam broadening techniques

Hello all.
I'm looking for techniques to broad the main beam of a large phased array with uniform illumination. Due to the broadening factor is about 3, the usual quadratic phase falls in very high side lobes.
Do you know some another techniques on doing it?
Please, provide me some ideas or references.
